By adopting the FHIR R4 standard, we ensure seamless and efficient interoperability with various systems, enabling accurate and timely data exchange that meets industry standards. This integration method allows us to better serve our clients by providing a robust framework for data exchange and application development with significantly less effort than traditional HL7v2 interfaces.

Once our system is aware of an active visit, we poll resources for updates on a tiered cadence: every 5 minutes for Emergency and Urgent Care visits, and every 60 minutes for Inpatient visits. After a visit ends, an hourly poller continues to check for late-arriving updates across lookback windows of up to 72 hours. Additional polls are triggered by certain state changes, for example, requesting medications and discharge instructions at the end of a visit.

In order to provide patients with real time updates on their care, we require a census/roster per facility. This can be in the format of an ADT feed or a CSV export provided via SFTP.

This will be used in conjunction with our FHIR applications, of which we currently have an offering for Cerner (Millennium and Soarian) and Epic clients.
