Engagement takes the headline numbers from the Overview and breaks out where patients drop off. Use it when a metric on the Overview looks wrong and the next question is why.
The Engagement Funnel, narrowing at each stage
How the funnel nests
The Engagement Funnel runs from Visits Started to Reachable, then to Overall Use and Logged In. Each stage is a subset of the one above it.
The denominators matter when reading the percentages. Reachable is a share of visits. Overall Use and Logged In are shares of Reachable, not of total visits, because a patient who was never reachable had no opportunity to engage. A facility with a poor Reachable can therefore report a strong Logged In, measured against a small group.
Badge thresholds
Metric | Optimal | On Track | Needs Attention |
Reachable | 85% or above | 75% to below 85% | Below 75% |
Overall Use | 75% or above | 60% to below 75% | Below 60% |
Logged In | 60% or above | 45% to below 60% | Below 45% |
Visits Started and Shared have no thresholds, so no badge appears on them.
Views and breakdowns
Charts switch between volume and percentage, and between bar and line. Volume answers how many patients, percentage answers how well, and the two can move in opposite directions when visit numbers change.
Engagement by Facility compares sites against each other. Demographics breaks engagement down by patient group, which is where a gap by age or language usually appears. Charts display up to 15 facilities individually, then switch to a single aggregate line to stay readable.
Reading the result
A weak Reachable is a registration problem, not an app problem. The mobile number is either missing or wrong before Vital ever sends anything.
A strong Reachable with a weak Overall Use means the message arrived and was not opened, so look at the invite and the timing of it. A strong Overall Use with a weak Logged In narrows it further to the login step itself.
