Task Bar

Engages waiting patients with tasks and education.

Availability: Vital Emergency

The task bar on Vital Emergency's home page appears when patients have tasks to complete while waiting for their next steps. Its goal is to engage patients meaningfully, helping to expedite their visits and keep them informed through educational content. Meaningful interaction with the task bar cards also enhances staff efficiency by encouraging patients to be more proactive and educated.

Task bar notifications

  • Notification icon: appears within the task bar pill on the landing page if new tasks are assigned.

  • Task count: indicates the number of new tasks assigned to the patient at any point during their ER visit.

  • No new tasks: if no new tasks are assigned, no notification appears.

  • New task tags: new task cards are marked with a "NEW" tag.

  • Seen status: a card is marked as "seen" after being viewed. The "NEW" tag disappears from the card and it moves to the back of the stack, and the notification count also reduces on the bar.

ER satisfaction check-in

Patients can submit their feedback from the PEX card in the task bar, in addition to the SMS check-in that is rolled out separately. This card is surfaced once the patient has been seen by the care team.

Video education

The video card provides educational content to patients about their symptoms, diagnosis, procedures, or other health management topics. Patients can play the video directly from the card or access textual content by clicking "Learn More." Patients can also mark a video as "Not Interested," which removes that video from the task bar.

The task bar displays up to three video cards, depending on the available categories. These categories are prioritized in the following order: procedure, diagnosis, symptom, and health management.

Confirmation cards

Patients can confirm their contact details, insurance, and PCP information that the facility has on file from distinct cards presented in the task bar (see Confirm Your Details). By doing so, the facility can ensure that their patient data is current and accurate. If any discrepancies are found, patients are advised to update their information with the registration desk.

If the facility does not have any Primary Care Physician (PCP) data for the patient, we offer to assist them in selecting one. The insurance card is only presented once the patient has been seen by the care team.

Recognize your team member

Patients can recognize their care team member through this card. It displays their care team and directs them to a facility-specific link for providing feedback. This card appears once the patient has been seen by the care team.

Tips

The tips card displays four tips for adults and six tips for pediatric patients under 18 (see Tips for a Faster Visit). These tips are shown from the start of the visit, except for the "Need a ride home" tip, which appears once treatment begins.

Share your visit

The task bar's share card lets a patient share a link to their visit progress with friends or family using any email or messaging app on their phone by clicking "Share" (see Share Visit Progress). The patient is assured that no private or medical data will be shared, and they can preview the information they are about to share.
