The Alerts tab in Vital Care Team displays a list of alerts regarding patients in the user's care.
Staff can subscribe to a variety of alerts, including:
Patient service requests made through Vital Emergency or Vital Inpatient.
Clinical events, such as responses to surveys or missing registration information.
The Alerts tab contains four columns:
Checkbox, shows whether the alert has been resolved; clicking it toggles completion. Completed alerts move under the completed label and are hidden.
RM, displays the patient's assigned location. If a patient's current location doesn't match their assigned location, both are shown under the patient's details.
Patient, displays demographic information about the patient (name, age, gender) plus initial details about the context of the alert. Clicking the patient name opens the Alert Details view with additional details about the patient and the alert.
LOS, displays the total length of time the patient has been in the facility.
Alerts remain in the list for 72 hours before they're removed.
Alert Details
The alert details view contains additional context about the alert and lets staff choose an assignee for that notification.
Assigning an Alert
Clicking the assignee box shows a list of staff members available to respond to that alert. This list only includes staff members currently subscribed to the correct patient's location and alert group (see Locations Filter and Group Filter below).
Reporting an Issue for a Patient
If you notice a particular patient has an issue with either Vital Emergency or Vital Inpatient, you can report an issue directly to our support team using the "Report an app issue for this patient" button. This opens a form to raise the issue with our support team.
Subscribing to Alerts
To subscribe to different alerts, staff use the filters at the top of the page, which let them filter alerts by location, type of alert, and assignee.
Locations Filter
The first tab, Location, brings up a list of locations for the clinician to select. Selecting one of these locations enables any subscribed alerts for that location.
Note: these locations are fully configurable by the facility.
Group Filter
The second filter, Groups, lets staff select which alerts they'd like to receive for the selected locations. For service requests made by the patient, enabling or disabling these notification groups also enables or disables patients' ability to make those service requests in Vital Emergency/Vital Inpatient.
Note: alerts can be configured to only be available for certain locations or during certain hours.
Assignee Filter
Vital Care Team lets staff assign different alerts to themselves or other team members (see Assigning an Alert above). This lets staff filter the alerts list by those assigned, unassigned, or assigned to themselves.
Turning Alerts On/Off
Alerts can be toggled on and off using the notifications button at the top of the page.
Alert Notifications
For desktop users, notifications are browser-based pop-ups. For mobile users, they're SMS messages. This allows for a timely response to requests.
