The Patients tab in Vital Care Team displays a list of all patients currently in the facility's care. The list can be filtered by a specific location within the facility, with patients showing up based on the unit they've been assigned to. To access this view, click the hamburger menu (upper right corner) and select Visits.
Patients remain on this list until 24 hours after they've been discharged. These patients can be excluded or included on this page using the "Status" filter.

The patient list contains multiple columns:
Room, displays the patient's assigned location. If a patient's current location doesn't match their assigned location, both the current and assigned location are shown under the patient's details.
Patient, displays demographic information about the patient, including their name, age, and gender.
Length of Stay, displays the total length of time the patient has been in the facility.
Status, displays the current stage of the visit.
Clicking a column header sorts the patient list by that column. For example, clicking the "Length of Stay" header re-orders the list from shortest to longest stay. Clicking again reverses the order.
Direct Message and Invite
Staff can use the speech bubble next to a patient's name to send direct messages to them (see Direct Messaging), or, if a patient hasn't logged in yet, invite them to use the patient app, Vital Emergency or Vital Inpatient (see Patient Invite).
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there any delay between what I see in Vital Care Team and what I see on my EHR trackboard?
The patient list automatically refreshes when changes in data are detected, such as new admits or discharges.
Can I view patients from multiple facilities in a single list?
No, you can only view patients from a single facility on the list at one time. You can swap between facilities to show the patient list for that facility using the facility picker at the top of the screen.
How long do patients remain on the patient list?
The patient list displays both emergency patients and inpatients. For emergency patients, it includes everyone who arrived within the last 24 hours, even those marked as discharged. For inpatients, the list shows patients who arrived within the past 60 days, excluding those who've been discharged from inpatient care.
